2013-2014 Applicants and their parents.....

Let me know if she is in my town and needs any help!

On a side note, this parents apartment shopping seems to be a never ending process. Friends of ours had to go to LA to do it for a kid starting residency and he stayed home for last two years of med school!

Thanks, pg! She’s actually going to be forty minutes away now – a far cry from the twenty hours for college. The other SOM she almost chose is three hours away. Her pro/con list had the two essentially tied. Let’s hope she made the right decision.

-We are definitely done with this task. Did it for D. before she started Med. School because she went abroad right before she started school. Well, she is movning to the house in few weeks, this time, she rented herself, we just going to continuew paying and we will pay for movers. Growing up does happen. We have not seen the place yet. And she is not starting her residency yet, so she may need to move again in a year.

^ She is not a resident yet. She will need to move somewhere again.

^Yes, this is a big question. Her goal is not to move. But if she moves, I do not think that we will be involved in rent anyhow whatsoever. It will be up to her again.

For all of those who will be starting medical school this summer/fall-- here’s some really excellent advice from a resident on how to survive med school. (With your sanity intact.)

Dropping in after a very long absence (and in the expectation that the CC gremlins would eventually disappear) to extend my congratulations to one and all. DS had several acceptances, and in the end chose the one that “loved” him first, back in November. He, too, will be “deep in the heart…”

Congrats to your DS UG…Awwh first love!!!

@UrbanGardener‌

congrats…and congrats to everyone else.

son finished his first year of med school a couple of weeks ago…I think he slept for two days straight.

I know the feeling. I-)
I will move into my new apartment in a week and a half, and will start my first lab rotation 5 days later.
Living my dream! :x

Moved DD into her new apartment on Friday. She is so happy and excited to start this new phase. Orientation begins on the 11th.

Congrats to your daughter Spring!

Sending congratulations and good wishes to all beginning this exciting adventure. I couldn’t say it any better than Plumazul…

Moved into my apartment 2 weeks ago. Parents came and helped me with the move.,left with parting gifts - fridge full of food, big bag of of basmati rice , freezer full of veg packets, car with full tank of gas. !!.
Our orientation started last week., White coat ceremony was on this weekend.
Classes started today.

@piggle - that is not helpful at all. Tell them to visit every couple of weeks to restock the fridge! Who has the time to cook. :p

Well, they gave a costco card, rice cooker and said good bye. My mom’s parting words-" read the instructions for rice cooker. Even a 10 year old can cook rice . we will see you for Thanksgiving !!"

those meanie parents!

…nice to have a spot in a kitchen for the rice cooker!!
Well, the studio is not D’s place any more either.
Best wishes for all those who have just started or aout to start!
Very hard road ahead but very very rewarding and they are supported all the way, not like in UG, they are part of the family called madical community. Yes, they will be screamed at for nothing, but they also will be cherished and guided and looked over at every turn, they will not be on their own when they stumble…

White coat Friday! Move in last week. D loves the school, the friendliest place she interviewed in a beautiful location.
