An ID number is the equivalence of a username and the PIN is the equivalence of a password. So you cant login if you're missing either of those. On the paper you get in the mail it says all that in bold. Did you not get that paper?

I am an international so it takes a long time for the mail to arrive (I posted my applications a little late). I received the ID no. in an email. We don't really need to login unless the decisions arrive, do we? Smith has already confirmed that they received my application over the email. What else do we need the bannerweb for?

I think its also used when you're a student for keeping track of the classes you've taken, and other things (maybe class registration as well), but I don't know if they give you a new I.D. though.

You will have the same student ID number (or "99 number") if you are accepted and choose to attend Smith. It allows you to access Bannerweb, which is where things like your student info (home address and emergency contacts), your course registration, time sheets for work-study jobs, financial aid info, tuition balance, etc., can be found.

As an applicant, I think it only shows the status of your application (meaning what items still need to be received by the Admission office) and, come the official announcement day, whether or not you've been accepted at Smith. (I applied to Smith over four years ago, though, so I might not remember correctly, but there's nothing extremely important there if you've already received confirmation that your application is complete.)

Thanx a lot. I can breathe now I guess!!

" BannerWeb and the Web Time Entry system will be unavailable from 5:00 p.m. to approximately 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 12th 2008 while we complete a software upgrade. "

I want to know so bad.. this wait is really killing me.

That's pure evil. They send the e-mail saying the decisions are online at 6, then bannerweb is down from 5-8.

They just changed it to "BannerWeb and the Web Time Entry system will be unavailable from 5:00 p.m. to approximately 9:00 p.m. Friday, December 12th 2008 while we complete a software upgrade. "

WHY WOULD THEY DO THIS????

Now its 9...

This is turning a late night into a ridiculous night...(its 2:15am my time). I've tried to go to sleep, believe me, I've tried! I feel a bit dejected and I haven't even heard back...If I get in I'll always laugh about this night, and if I don't its going to make it so much worse.

Tusk, tusk Smith.
Sara

It was poor planning on their part, but I'm sure they didn't do it just to give everyone a heart attack. BannerWeb undergoes maintenance frequently, but usually its not a problem because its only for an hour or two.

Just relax people. Bannerweb goes down for maintenance all the time, sometimes it takes longer than expected. If it's late where you are, I suggest going to bed and checking in the morning.

It's back on, I think.

It is back up. I got in!

I got in too!!!! Congratulations to everyone.

I got in too!

Maybe in a month or two we could possibly start a facebook group for the class of 2013 so we can start learning about our future classmates.

There already is one and there are already a ton of posts. haha
