congrats butterfliiiiii

taaaaaaaankkkss

Wonder if anyone knows more about Pitt - interview format, how many seats, how many interview etc? Congrats @butterfli any one else in this room going?

Interview format - two interviews, one with faculty/or coordindator and one with medical student. pretty standard, nothing fancy like panels or mmi
How many interview - I’ve heard 75 from a parent on the forums, but more recently, from students <50.
how many seats - approx 15

I applied in later November and was so excited about the medical program. I got into the Honors College with a scholarship in the beginning of January, but I never received the secondary application for GAP. When I called the undergraduate admission office, a man said the secondary applications would continue to roll out until late January. I met all the requirements so I kept waiting anxiously.

Today I called the office again and a lady told me that the deadline for the secondary applications already passed and interview notifications are being sent out.

I think this is the most bummed out I’ve been in all of high school. I’ll try pursuing this but I’m just really upset.

Does anybody known if a 3.75 GPA is Upitt is doable?

@iwannabebrown I live I the area and have a bunch of friends who go to Pitt (I actually applied for guaranteed dental with the same requirements only DAT instead of MCAT and was accepted!) from what they said is that it is doable but you have to work your butt off

What is MCAT and GPA requirement to kepp?

@KLM all the requirements can be found here [University of Pittsburgh: Undergraduate Admissions & Financial Aid](http://www.oafa.pitt.edu/guarantee.aspx) it says for med MCAT not required and 3.75 gpa

@guitarkid49. Appreciated

Could some one share their experience from last year’s GAP interview process? Thank you.

Yeah so I interviewed with about six or so other people give or take on my day. You start the day at a round table sitting with the other interviewees. The program coordinator describes the program requirements and has a UPMC students answer any questions. Somewhere during that time, the program coordinator asks everyone to go around and give details about themselves including something that they like to do for fun. Then I think there was a tour of the medical campus after which the students are taken to a waiting room to wait for both a scheduled student interview and faculty interview. After the interviews, the day was done.

Nothing unusual; prepare for the usual set of questions.

@dblazer thank you soooo much!!! that is really helpful. if you dont mind me asking, were there any medical ethics questions (euthanasia, stem cell, research…etc)?
Also, are you in the program right now?

I don’t remember receiving a medical ethics question in particular but I would definitely prepare for it either way, could easily have just been my interviewer who chose not to ask.

I am not currently in the program (didn’t make the cut). It’s pretty selective from the interview stage; less than 10 are chosen out of almost 40 interviewees. It is a good program but they are pretty strict about four years and about making sure you do the typical medical activities (volunteering, research, etc.) along with maintaining a good gpa.

Thanks so much dblazer. and yes, im pretty concerned about the limited flexibility. I also think that a 3.75 is pretty high among all the programs I’ve applied to . but i guess that i have to cross that hurdle IF I get accepted. So where are you now?

Has anybody had their interview yet?

no they are only from march 4-8.

my interview is tomorrow!

i thought it was today, bluesky!

@bluesky2792, How did you do?
