Accepted :) i can finally use that word!

ACCEPTED! (after being rejected from Oberlin and Smith). I feel sooooo good. and the FA was excellent :D

Woohoo got accepted too! :D

Oh I didn't mention in that last post that I was also accepted :) with 15k a year. Post Smith-waitlist this feels realllllly good.

congrats girls on ur admission to mhc!! i got in during the first early decision round so ive been soo excited since december! cant wait to meet u all if u girls decide to go in the fall!

I've been accepted as a 21st Century scholar!

mzpeck, I'm not sure what the distinction is, but I do know that the 21st Century scholar award comes with a faculty tutorial, funded internship, and stuff like that...maybe it's based more on academics and not leadership/ECs? I don't know.

I'm not sure how this is going to work out: $20,000 is quite a lot, so is the $15,000 from my Smith STRIDE, but I haven't gotten any FA from MHC and I don't know what Smith's FA is yet.

A merit scholarship overrides what you would have gotten as need-based aid. As such, it is possible that some of you will not get any financial aid beyond your scholarships. Look at it this way: a scholarship is an award that is used instead of financial aid, not in addition to financial aid, lest your financial situation allows the latter to happen. Some of you will get financial aid on top of your scholarships, but it depends on your financial situation. If your EFC was about 25-30k, it is likely you will not get any more aid from any college that gives you merit-based scholarships. The twenty-first century scholars program is brand new; see here for information: Mount Holyoke College :: An Investment You Can Afford. Good luck and congratulations to you all!

My D is in! I saw on this site that decisions were in....she is in Germany right now so I sent her an e-mail.....had to wait and wait till she looked at it as they were out for the day plus the time difference.........she didn't have time to look at financial aid as they were about to have dinner....but its nice to know she is in if it works out. 5 down, 4 to go.....

I got in with a leader scholarship, which is aweome!!! God, i really don't know what to do. I've been so invested in seriously studying music in a B.M. program, and really just applied here on a whim because I've always like MHC...ugh acceptance is awesome but decisions are awful.

Admit with a Spring semester start. How familiar is anyone with this at MH?
Nice FA, but the late start seems like it would put you out of synch with entering class.
Any ideas?

I was admitted for Spring too. If you go on the admitted students website, there's a section that explains the spring start in more detail. It looks like you can make up for the late start in a variety of ways.

There is a pretty big community of spring admits; congratulations to you!

ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!! wohoo:) ... took a while to log into the FA website coz the pin was sent to my Spam folder?? YAY I'm so excited!!

ACCEPTED wooohoooo

D was also accepted and is thrilled about the opportunity to attend MH. However like the poster above we are also a Spring 2010 admit. Odd in that we did not request that.

Does anyone have information regarding Spring Admission?

Take a look at this link from the MHC website:

So is it a lottery that determines if one is a Fall or Spring admit?

No, I don't think so. The Spring admission FAQ says, "The admissions staff looks for academically capable students who might really enjoy the option to do something different before entering college." That implies that the admission for Spring versus Fall isn't random. It also doesn't seem that Spring admits are "second choice" for the school -- the admitted students website has a Spring admission page which says, "Students who have been admitted for the spring typically have demonstrated independence, initiative, motivation, and passion. These women may have studied abroad, committed themselves to a research project, participated in an internship, or pursued a lifelong artistic or athletic goal. They have often juggled a rigorous course load with long hours of practice or research during their high school careers."

I got accepted! :) I hope I can get some sort of aid, or my chances of going are slim...

Your aid should be available on line....right below the admission letter.
