2014-2015 applicants and their parents

Here’s a silly-ish question. For the test score section of the application, do you include SAT info or is that too long ago? Some employers wanted it, so DS has it on his resume.

I believe they’re looking for collegiate level scores–so GRE, LSAT, GMAT, etc.

Not SAT or ACT–those scores are irrelevant at this point.

Wow. NO posts?

I’m so very sad to see there’s been absolutely NO posts since the AMCAS’s application opened. Does that mean this group is disbanded before it even gets off the ground, that is still working on their application, or that no one but me is looking for shared support??? DS’s application was submitted this past weekend, but his transcripts have yet to be received. UGH! He had them sent about two weeks ago.

^^Just the first of many, many glitches along the way

For those who have offspring applying this cycle, I recommend copious amounts of adult beverages. Either that or stuffing your fingers in your ears and singing “lalalalala. I can’t hear you!” until until May.

D2 will be matriculating in about 6 weeks. I am thrilled and relieved to have the application cycle in her rearview. (Of course, D1 will be applying to residencies starting in August. And we just went thru a round of away rotation application angst….So, it’s always something!)

My D has already submitted and is waiting for the next step. The beginning of the long process has begun- trying to pace herself on secondary writing too.

We’re out here limabeans! DS is finishing up his application. He’s been sick since he got home last week. He originally planned to submit by now. He also is waiting for transcripts to be submitted. He had to wait for the ROTC department to provide grades to school. His school doesn’t allow ROTC classes to count toward GPA, so they don’t show up on normal transcripts. He learned from someone who applied this past year that they want those ROTC class scores, even though not part of official transcript. So hopefully he will submit before the end of the week!

Hopefully we can stick around and support each other though the process!

You’re not alone, limabeans! DS submitted his application last Wednesday.

Wowmom, I’m already practicing my “lalalalalal…I can’t hear you!” I know I’ll need it!

I remember lots of parents being very mad at AAMC last year for being way behind in verification. Does it mean they are better this year?

Still here. D has all transcripts in, still working on the application. She too hopes to be done by the end of the week. I’ve been checking in here but not much to post.

they are still verifying apps from the very first day (a week later)-- so it seems like last year.

DS is mostly polishing his personal statement. That’s the main thing (besides transcripts) holding him up. Oh, and his committee letter/lor’s from his school. School set deadline of June 15 for letters to be in to them, and some of the LOR’s are still MIA. Hopefully they will be in this week and that will be done. I would assume nothing will be done to his application until it’s complete? Or do they verify each section (application vs transcripts vs letters) separately? It doesn’t help that he’s been sick and really feeling horrible and sleeping a lot. Dr. appt tomorrow. I’m hoping it’s a sinus infection or something and not something like mono. :open_mouth:

Hope your son feels better quickly VAMom. My D is also trying to finish her personal statement. Her laptop died and most of her work was on it. Hopefully it can be revived at the computer store.

Letters do not need to be in for verification, but all transcripts do need to be in and processed first. The LOR need to be in around the secondary for the applicant to be complete at a school. So a little extra time for LOR.

DS is verified!

Back to the photo discussion…I took a photo of DS, cropped it, and sent the jpeg file to him. Wowmom, you mentioned that the file can’t be too big. How do I know if what I sent him will work?

@ohiomom2 The only way to know is for him to try. Every school is different.

Thanks, Wowmom. That’s what I was afraid of. I’ll just cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Happy dance for Ohiomoms son. Verified very early in the process. Daughters school didn’t send out committee letters till august 15th. That is normally considered VERY late but from what I heard, schools knew that her UG sent their comittee letters on that date every year. Camom, my daughter was not verified till that was in. Her app and transcripts were sent in June but nothing verified till 3rd week of august.

“Houston, we have lift-off”!!! DS submitted last night! Now he will start working on essays. He wants to get them done before he leaves mid-July for ROTC training and will not have access to his computer. I hope the essays stay the same and I can submit for him. Otherwise they will have to wait until he returns.

DS saw Dr. and they said sinus infection and gave him some meds. Hopefully he will be feeling better soon!

dheldreth–I hope your D is able to recover her personal statement! She definitely doesn’t need the added stress!

Ohiomom-Congrats on you DS’s verified status.

camomof3–thanks for the info on LoR’s. That is a relief!

Just a coincidence. If you don’t get your primary submitted on the first day (or shortly thereafter) that’s how long verification takes. LORs not involved in verification process.
