Does age play a factor in acceptance? Just curious

Of course not.

lol I thought I had an advantage cuz I’m younger than most transfer applicants ;)

My major is also CS.
And I am also waiting for the decision.
Actually, i have studied in UCSD for about one year.(Exchange Student)
My GPA so far is 3.95…
But…I think maybe they even won’t consider about International Transfer …lol…
I have took too many major classes…Just few general classes.
Hope you guys can get admitted .^.^

@dontshweatit they definitely do. What would be the point of it otherwise?

Apparently they use it to determine scholarships and other financial aid stuff. Only UCB, UCLA, UCI, and UCM use them in consideration for the admissions process.

@ocnative
Lol is it? I just like reading the acceptances and seeing the excitement of the people, makes me happy too :)

@Marmaneous, @dontshweatit is mostly right. I met with a UCSD rep and she told me they only look at them if you have a big gap in your educational history and they are trying to determine if you attended a school and didn’t include it on your app. For normal applicants UCSD doesn’t bother reading them. They base their decision almost entirely on GPA.

@UCxDreamer Yup, that sounds right! :)

@Marmaneous, take a look at this <a href=“University of California Counselors”>University of California Counselors; (page 9, to be specific)

The point of the personal statement is mostly for LA and Berkeley.

Do they look at extracurriculars?

@underbear Yep…or at least you would hope that they do!

@cidzor They don’t look at extracurriculars

@CollegeDropout1 Yes they do. What makes you say otherwise?

They probably do but it definitely doesn’t make as much of an impact as your GPA and completion of pre-reqs.

Can you guys please stop posting on this thread and getting my hopes up ):::: I’ve officially lost it. This was supposed to be out last month. Single tear

@cidzor Now you are just in denial. Just because you want your extracurricular activities to be consider does not mean they are going to. You even implied that you did not know by saying “at least you would hope that they do!”, in a previous statement.

@CollegeDropout1 Yeah, I wasn’t too sure, but now that I think about it, them skipping over our extracurriculars would remove a huge, and I think important, factor in picking a good student for their school.

On a side note, my EC’s are very average.

@cidzor Sorry if I came off as a dbag, I was just getting a little frustrated. I could have been nicer.

I hope the 2nd wave comes out today…

@bhav007, I would be willing to bet money that it does come out today. This is exactly what happened in the first wave. It was supposed to on friday, but it ended up coming out the following monday. Keep your fingers crossed.
