@ocnative that maybe the last batch - and not a minute too soon!

Hey guys,

What’s this theory behind “good housing” vs the “bad housing” posts? I’ve very curious…

For those whose housing message changed, did you guys file FAFSA to UCSD with “On Campus”? I filed it and saw the changed…

I filed it with “On Campus” but I don’t think that means anything.

Seriously UCSD…just release the batch already :-w

@WhiteTiger84 It all starts on p.74 of this thread.

Basically, the “come back” message is good, the “does not allow you to proceed” is bad. (That’s the theory, anyways)

@cidzor Thanks for replying back.

So, based on this theory, I guess I’m in the “bad” pile. :(

@WhiteTiger84

Not necessarily. You could also just be in the last batch. Hang in there!

@ocnative Thank you. I hope I am in the last batch *fingers, legs and eyeballs crossed."

Okay I have been stalking this post since day one and I’ve finally decided to post.

CC is the biggest online community for college admissions. One can argue that schools do not bother to see what applicants are chattering about them on here, but I speculate otherwise: admission offices definitely check CC.

So assuming UCSD affiliated personnels have been on CC, they most definitely are aware of the phenomenon where kids use this “housing trick” as an indicator of their admission status.
From what I know, this trick can be dated back to 2011.
If the so-called “good housing” does 100% mean “admitted”,don’t you guys think they would have tried to eliminate this “loophole” by now?
I’m no expert when it comes to building a website, but I’m sure it isn’t difficult to remove the linkage between admission status and housing application, right?
Or perhaps UCSD is just trolling all of us lol
… Or UCSD is just too technologically challenged

I’m just as anxious as everyone else here. I do not have a 4.0 and I am not exactly that confident.
My housing message changed to the good one yesterday and I would like to believe I’m admitted too.
I just think we should stay skeptical and not get our hopes up.
Just wanted to put my perspective out there. This ridiculous wait needs to end now -_-

Don’t think we will be getting anything today, otherwise decisions would have been out. I think we’ll have to wait until the 18th at the earliest. The “remaining transfer applicants will be notified by the end of April” isn’t a promising message though.

@globeneon
I would agree with you. IF the housing trick does work, they might as well just announce acceptance through the housing page instead…

This is my first cc post of the year. It’s funny because for the past 2 weeks I’ve just been logging on and reading posts, to the point where I don’t even check the ucsd portal anymore. My question is the following: did we have to submit a housing application as transfer applicants? A lot of these comments have references to their housing status, which has sort of thrown me off since my portal only shows the “currently reviewing message” and I don’t recall submitting a housing app. Finally, can someone tell me how i can see this housing status message that seems to state “good” or bad (the one people are saying has a correlation with whether or not you got admitted). Thanks in advance!

@Dominicano - The housing application doesn’t need to be submitted until after you SIR. And you can see what everyone is referring to by logging into your Myapp with UCSD and click on housing, then click on apply for housing application link.

The simple answer is no @Dominicano. The housing link has been generating discussion as it’s generic message has changed for some. But there is no access until you SIR.

mine housing message has changed also. Hope it’s a good sign. good luck everyone!

My message changed today; now says" The Housing Office currently does not have updated information on your Admission Status and therefore cannot accept a housing application today. You may come back to this link once Admissions has communicated their decision on your application to UC San Diego. You can check this by logging in at myapplication.ucsd.edu."

3.53 GPA, with TAG

How amazing would it be if they actually released more decisions at 5 today…

@ucsdplease77 are you sure it was today that it changed? Like did you check yesterday and it was unchanged? Or did you just check the housing thing today for the first time in a while?

@TheUnderdog1 I saw it today and yesterday, positive it changed today.

Will UCSD be posting decisions even on the 30th like some of the posts I’ve seen on this thread have implied?

I will probably wind up in the last batch (rejected or no), since I’m out of state and also had a bit of a kerfuffle with UCSD trying to get my preferred major changed on my application. I’m sure that caused a delay.
