Did anyone do college auditions at Lincoln, NE for the international thespain fesitval this year? Curious about admission and scholarship offers. My D got many callbacks but her reports from some of them are different from “rumors” I have heard. Anyone get a DePaul callback there? If so, what did it consist of? My D’s was not a real callback, but more of a time to get Info from the school. Anyone know what a guthrie or otterbien callback means? Thanks for any info.
There where three sessions of auditions for students this year. My D was in the first session, DePaul only sat in on the 2nd and 3rd session for whatever reason. 2 years ago my S’s friend received a Guthrie callback and it was all that was required for acceptance into the program, he did not have to re-audition at a later dater on campus. (He currently is attending Guthrie) My D was told during her Otterbein callback that they are looking forward to seeing her at Unifieds. Other callbacks where much more rewarding.
thanks for the info Big Shoes. My D got various callbacks and some were more “real” than others (as you said). Guthrie was just an information session (although it was an actual scheduled callback on Saturday morning) and Otterbein had a sign posted that if you were called back they would contact you after the festival as the director was busy participating in the festival. I was wondering what to expect from them.
My daughter audtioned on the first night - but maybe that was session #2 (?) as she got a DePaul callback. But basically they said “see you at unifieds.” Others actually interviewed her or did a working call back with her performing. So interesting to hear different perspectives. Thanks again.
My daughter did college auditions at Internationals last year. She got lots and lots of callbacks, which in and of itself was reassuring for her. She had a call back at Guthrie, and got some nice feedback from the auditor, who said he would “see her at Unifieds.” Ultimately, she was not admitted to Guthrie. She also got called back for CCM (acting) and was actually admitted to CCM through the Internationals audition. That was extremely reassuring for us as a family, to know that she was admitted to CCM. She also was admitted to a few other, less well known programs through the process.
I guess my takeaway is that some of the auditions are more productive than others. However, the process in and of itself was good for her. It helped her develop confidence, and was good practice for senior year auditions. And having a safety was wonderful!
