Maybe they’re going the UCB route and just haven’t told anyone.
@lindyk8 haha that would be ridiculous, but I would not be surprised. Are you/anyone else applying for the UCLA alumni scholarship?
@LuckyName : thank you! now that I know UCLA sends regents invites any day now…I’m going to be even more anxious. I honestly check my email an unhealthy amount of times per day. It’s seriously a problem.
@Sincere1 : to be honest a lot of my friends aren’t the very proactive type, so that might be why they don’t know. not trying to trash on my friends, they’re awesome in many other ways…but they’re not so good when it comes to transfer relate stuff.
@lindyk8: i’m usually not TERRIBLE at interviews but it would be such a huge weight off my shoulders to hear that they’re just going to do the UCB route… then I wouldn’t have to worry about more work!
@Sincere1 I am, but I have no clue how to write the essays
@luckie1367 Yeah, I looked at them awhile ago and saw that the prompts are like nothing I have ever written before, especially the autobiography one. I seriously have no clue what to say, so I’ve been procrastinating by filling out the rest of the app haha
Based on the last years I’m guessing regents will come out next week? Have any of you guys found ways to not think about this admissions stuff? I decided to get tinder Fairly distracted now.
lol too many science tests at the same time …dont have time to think about it
@giraffinyoucrazy I did see in some older threads that people started getting their invitations around April 4th…so the wait continues. As far as being distracted, you know what to do–study!
I’m with you @Npham95, I have an Ochem and physics exam next week!
Anyone hear anything yet?
Just called the Financial Aid and Scholarship office. They said the invitations to apply should come out in “uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh about a week…week and a half”…
If it’s gonna be that late they should just pick them like UCB.
Wait… are invites generally released before the decisions? If so, and it’s supposed to be about a week or week and half, does that mean decisions probably won’t be released next week?
I posted this just now on UCLA thread:
“Well @humbleteen sent me a msg that regents invites are coming out around the 20th, so I called UCLA too, and was told they’re coming out AFTER acceptance notices this year. So, assuming humble is right with the 20th, then admit notices are probably on target for the 17th. Last year they came out about an hour earlier than the time slot given out.”
Can someone please explain what exactly regents are? Like is it just another special scholarship for transfer applicants?
@award334
In general, Regents scholarships are quite prestigious and are offered to both freshman and transfer students. However, each UC goes about selecting Regents scholars different ways, as some do not offer it to transfers or do not require an application or even an interview. For example, in order to be awarded UCLA’s Regents, you must be invited to compete. In contrast, Berkeley (and other UCs) simply tell you that you won with no need to be invited. Aside from the monetary prize, there are many other perks of being a Regents scholar, which I assume are different at each university. At UCLA, this is what the scholarship consists of (from their site):
- A $2000 honorarium, provided ex gratia as well as an amount of financial aid sufficient to meet the needs of the scholar
- Preferential pre-enrollment in UCLA courses
- Guaranteed on-campus housing for four years as long as the application is submitted by the Housing deadline
- Guaranteed on-campus parking for scholars that submit the Parking/Transportation application by their perspective deadlines.
- Eligibility to join the Regents Scholar Society
Does preferential pre-enrollment in ucla courses mean priority registration? Lol. Are they just making it more complex than it really has to be, haha.
Yes, it just means you get a great enrollment date.
Has anybody with a 4.0 hear back from UCLA regents? I have a 3.98 so I think I just didn’t make the cut.
@spenceyboi this has been discussed multiple times. see previous posts. Nobody has heard anything from regents. Not those with a GPA of 4.0, 3.7, 3.6, 2.2, or infinity. Nobody.
I’ve been following this thread ever since it was posted. I was wondering if anybody had any new information since today is supposed to be a week before decisions come out.
