2016 and beyond wedding moms and dads (Part 2)

Beautiful table, I’m impressed.

Hahaha! When I first unrolled the garlands, a brief panic set in. They looked stiff and behaved accordingly. But we managed to put them where we wanted them.

Lovely table. I can see why event planner was impressed. Did you know your actual headcount would be smaller when you got to the venue? Hope so, as planning for 80 and having just 60 would be disappointing (although understandable in this time of covid).

We knew by early July that some folks who RSVPd would not be able to come due to Covid hitting their families. Then Covid started to nibble at the remaining crowd just before the wedding. The caterer was very accommodating. She requested the final tally five days before the event. Food was served family style because the venue did not have a commercial kitchen for plated dinners, so it was relatively easy to adjust. I think I paid for only 4 extra guests!

Thank you, all!

Now… y’all are dying to know what I wore (the bride wore white, of course!). It was quite a photo finish, lol. Had to abandon my yellow dress because I felt the fabric was too fussy (I was right!) and could not wear the green dress because that color went to the groomswoman. So… kid approved a garden party dress! Was not my first choice because I wanted a solid color, but it worked well for the venue! Got the package from Saks a week before the wedding and begged the seamstress to hem it for me - she was amazingly accommodating. Here is a snapshot of the Saks’s page (NOT ME!):

Ohh… found me. Hard to take photos of myself, so this is the best I have to date :joy:

@BunsenBurner love, love love the setting and the table setup. Absolutely beautiful.

It really was a great weekend weather-wise for a wedding & I’m happy it all came together for you.

I was thisclose to doing the same thing with dishes et al, but D’s end of school and my surgery and recovery put the kibosh on that. Such a great idea to use and then put back into the pipeline for reuse by someone else.

Oh, and the dress - gorgeous!

What a gorgeous wedding! I’m so happy for all of you. I can definitely relate to the DIY aspects (the fun of the hunt, the delight when it works, and the general insanity of schlepping it all to the venue…).

Your dress is perfect! Hope you’ll post more pics.

Happy for you and your family. The table looks beautiful, and the dress is lovely. Tough to work around uncertainties, yet your family kept their eyes on what mattered most. Congratulations!

Ok, this is the weekend for D2’s wedding. It’s in the city where she lives and where the groom’s family has lived for years.

We get on the road early tomorrow morning. We are driving 8+ hours because we have too much stuff to fly! We made that decision long before all of the flight problems.

I finally looked at the wedding budget last night (gulp). We have 177 guests and everything adds up. (Yes, that’s larger than my dream number but we are also missing about 20 friends and family I really wish could be there).

I’ve got the escort cards, place cards, favors (Italian wedding cookies, biscotti, Jordan almonds, and chocolates), table numbers, cake knife, cake topper (from my grandparent’s cake ~100 years ago), etc.

Just in case there’s anyone who knows who I am IRL, I’m hoping my broken toe has healed enough and that my stye won’t be visible in pictures!

I can’t wait to arrive tomorrow and get this party underway.
