I am currently at a VCCS school and plan to transfer in fall of 2016. I got my GED because I was home schooled and I had planned to go to a school that didn’t require test scores but when I decided on UVa I decided to take my ACT. I got a 27 composite. The math really is the only thing that brought my score way down because I got my GED so I never had the correct sequence of math classes. I have a 3.8 GPA at my community college (should be a 3.9 before I graduate). I have completed basically every pre requisite except for all sections of foreign language. I’m very active in my students community and my church community and have a lot of academic and service work I can cite for that. I guess I’m just wondering if my ACT score is competitive enough for a transfer or if I should consider taking it again. I know my GPA is good enough for transfer and I’m confident my extracurriculars and essays will be too. I am only worried about my testing. Any opinions are helpful. Thanks.
Any opinions are really appreciated.
@UVa2018 I don’t think the committee will be looking too closely at your test score. These tests are designed to measure a student’s ability to succeed in college–you’re already in college and have done well in it. I actually know someone who got accepted as a transfer to UVA and his test scores weren’t up to the same standard held for high school applicants.
