Lol @7tbones Thanks can’t wait to see you at NCSSM
@k8allen I did not go to the orientation last year, you will be fine.
Does anyone know what class would I be placed in next year if I am in AP Calc AB now?
@oralsurgery01 - There will be a placement test on Welcome Day. They will put you in the right level of Calc. There are 3 trimesters, as I recall from AB to BC. The School will figure out the right one for your skill level. Don’t stress about your placement. It’s going to be more detailed than in high school. If you place too low or too high, they will move you the first two weeks of school.
@Skrunch thanks that helps. Do you know by any chance what placement test I would take?
I looked at this link and it said something about filling out past math experience and taking a diagnostic test. https://www.ncssm.edu/uploads/files/35753654628598821-math-placement-tests.pdf
It will be a Calculus test. Likely have AB and BC topics (at least that’s circa 2015 info).
Ok sounds good
Got accepted into the waitlist, looks like I’ll have to wait some more
Do any of you have an idea of how many people have declined so far?
Hi, I got accepted onto the waitlist. Does anyone know what the chances are for me attend?
@chris_19 Its hard to calculate chances since according to the information session, it depends entirely on whether someone from your district declines. Im guessing since there were 60 people on the waitlist, theres like 2 guys and 2 girls from each district, maybe 3 from larger districts, so youre only competing against a few people. But they also said they only have a few people left on the waitlist that don’t make it in.
Thanks! That is great news but I don’t want to get too excited
When are roommates and dorm assignments coming out?
I’m curious as to how competitive CD 11 is? If anyone has any information it’d be much appreciated if you let me know.
Stumbled across this thread by accident… would anyone mind describing what NCSSM is? It sounds interesting… :))
North Carolina School of Science and Math - google it and you can find loads of interesting information. Only available to NC residents.
