@pineapplepen It depends on the nomination. Some of them are scams that everyone gets, but if it’s one that was based on you individually and you were nominated by your school then it’s worthy to put on the application. Programs like NSLC and other conference type things are scams that try and take your money.
After I submitted my application, there was a spot that requests a signature. Are we supposed to do anything with that? It says:
"I certify that all the information I have given on this application is complete and correct. I understand my failure to provide complete, accurate, and truthful information on this application will be grounds to deny or withdraw my admission, or dismiss me after acceptance. I agree to allow the university to send information on the substance and status of my application and related information to my previous schools and to constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina.
I hereby acknowledge that the institution may verify the information set forth herein from sources accessible under law to the institution and that the institution may divulge the contents of the application in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, as amended if I am, or have been, in attendance at this institution."
There are two lined spaces for signature below (you can find it if you view your application in the application hub of CFNC)
I email the person and they told me that I needed to print it out, sign it and send it to them. @collegegirl79
If they need us to print it, sign it, and send it, why wouldn’t they tell all the applicants? The applicants who don’t email them probably won’t even know to print it, sign it, and send it. It just seems a bit weird.
idk… I emailed the admissions director and he told me to do that for it… your choice whether you want to listen to me or not… @collegegirl79
I believe you, I was just surprised that we weren’t all told about this. Did the admissions director tell you when they need it to be mailed by?
I emailed them before the due date and all he said was that they do not necessary need it before January 15… I am pretty sure they need it ASAP.
Ugh I just received a B in Chemistry. I’m in a competitive district. I was doing well with my application, and I had a family issue and bombed a test. Do you think it’ll be a big problem with my application? I have lots of awards and extracurriculars and leadership positions. If I get rejected, will I have another chance by appealing and telling them I had a family issue that caused me to do bad on one test?
does anyone have science olympiad next saturday??
Is anyone going to the beta convention on Friday?
so uh anyone at discovery day today? bc what’s the test like (hard, easy, etc)
So I went to the discovery day yesterday and I was feeling really off my game- thought maybe it was just the nervousness. But then I get home and later realize I have the flu… Has anybody ever heard of someone retaking the discovery day test?
and @smath08 test wasn’t bad. Quick though. I didn’t get to answer all of them. As I said before though I was sick and not on my top game.
Hey everyone! CO '18 here. If any of you have any questions or want to get an idea of your chances, just let me know or tag me or something so I see the post.
For those of you who went to Discovery Day on February 18, would you mind giving me a general idea of what the math test is like? What kind of topics does it cover?
Could you tell us about some of the topics that were covered on the test?
Like what level math was most of it based on? Was there anything necessary that we needed to bring that hye didn’t tell us about? Should I be panicking? Should I even panic?
For those who are freaking about Discovery Day test… there’s no need. It’s 30 minute test 30 questions. No calculator. And you don’t have to bring anything on your discovery day test, they provide all the test materials for you. The test was about stuff you learned in Math 1 and 2 in my opinion. The test was way easier than SAT math questions.
Is ncssm worth it… considering if I do (hopefully) get in, my grades are probably going to be lower than I’m used to; will this look bad on college apps? Also, are there junior marshals at ncssm?
@smath08 definitely worth it unless you feel like you’re gonna make c’s or something at NCSSM while being valedictorian at home… all major universities know the value of an NCSSM education. there are junior marshals however not based on class rank (we don’t have that), rather it’s just like “hey put your name in this hat and we’ll pick”
