The way I understand Transfer admission at USC works is like a layer system. The University of Southern California has an overarching main admissions department, they collect all the applications and sort based on who meets the school-wide hard-static requirements: have you completed HS, are you a criminal, are you a college student, and have you completed WRIT 130. Once it passes thru them, the applications go down to the next of the individual ‘colleges’/‘schools’ like Dornslife or Viterbi which have their own separate admission department. The school your application is sent is depends on you first choice major, the second choice doesn’t matter til later. Once it gets to them they’re mostly looking at major preparation and school-fit. Ultimately, the individual schools decide whether to admit.
This guy applied to Viterbi as 1st, got reject from Viterbi, and accept into Marshall as 2nd choice.

When do you think TTP applicants will hear bck in april?
If u check last cycle of the same topic(2021-2022), there were three ttp who got decisions on Apr 17th and 23rd last year
TTP applicants hear back at the same time as regular transfer applicants
When do they release spring grade requests for Quarter system students? I sent my winter transcript last week and it was received, so should I expect a spring grade request sometime in April or the beginning of May (if I get one)?
How do I let USC know my updated Spring course load? I’m on a quarter system so when I submitted my application I was only giving a rough guess into what my classes were going to look like in the Spring.
I suggest you email your advisor (listed in your portal) and give them the update that way! Always great to keep that thread of connection, too!
Some ttp have heard back already
Do you mean for Spring Grade Requests? Or do you know of TTP students who have already received acceptance?
They got SGR
Ugh. Such a brutal waiting game. Anecdotally, does anyone know what SGR are based on? Is it solely Fall GPA? Wondering if students who pull off a 4.0 in Fall might still be asked for Spring Grades?
It depends on if you’re a sophmore or junior applicant. If you are a sophmore applicant, SGR are based on if you have required transfer courses in progress in the spring. For example, if you are an engineering major and are taking Calc 2 in the spring, USC will need to wait and see what you get in that class as it is requirement for admission, no matter how good your GPA already is. Unless you have a bunch of AP credit from high school or have been to college before, it is extremely rare for sophmore transfers not to get SGR. For junior transfers, SGR could be based on if your GPA is borderline and they need one more semester to base their decision on.
Any AP credits or course equivalent (or as the prerequisite for USC Admission in particularly the AP English Literature & Composition?
Hey! Can i transfer into USC as an Undeclared Major?
Yes you can. Part of me thinks you should pick a major - if you know you aren’t doing a specialty field like engineering etc, then choose a Dornsife major that may interest you. You can always change when you get there. Transfers don’t have as much time as freshman, so I’m not sure coming in undecided is a positive thing. But then again, you should be true to yourself and if undecided, you are undecided!!! Maybe you would be unique coming in as an undeclared transfer. So I think it’s up to you!!!
do you know how easy it is to change a major from dornsife to viterbi once admitted?
