24 Hours: You Decide

Precisely. Don't make a square peg fit in a round hole. Finding a college that fits is infinitely better than having to transfer! A reasonably high proportion of students at UNC Chapel Hill and UVa are OOS, are paying big bucks for it, and passed up "better" colleges for them. Although I don't think one visit (did you overnight?) is enough to discount a choice, I think gut instincts are important.

w.e., u can do wat u like, but on average, most kids at michigan are simply less talented than those at northwestern, there will be a better social like at NU but thats just b/c the michigan kids party more

as u know

schools w. the most talented students on average do the least partying

its a def association
there are some exceptions however....

for communications, go to Northwestern

Are you sure you aren't just leaning towards Michigan BECAUSE some of your best friends are going there and therefore you've been hearing all about how much fun it is from them? I have never heard anyone say that Northwestern is not a full college experience, and I've heard plenty of stories about how much fun it is from current students, so that comment makes me wonder if perhaps your friends haven't put some subtle pressure on you to go to Michigan with them, in spite of your protestations that going to the same school as them might make it hard to branch out socially. Maybe, just maybe, you're a little afraid of making a different choice than your "Best friends." Maybe, just maybe, you're a little afraid that you won't be able to "cut it" at Northwestern and Michigan seems like the easy way out.

Don't get me wrong - Michigan is a terrific school. So is Northwestern. You will get an excellent education at either school, and you will work your butt off at both schools - Michigan is definitely NOT going to be easier than Northwestern. It is also likely that you will have plenty of fun at both schools. Just make sure your choice is your own, and not one made because others put doubts in your mind, either intentionally or unintentionally, or because you're afraid of perceived challenges that may or may not be there.

And, I wouldn't elicit too many opinions from strangers here at CC at this point either - that is only going to get you more confused. Just sleep on the decision, and when you wake up tommorrow, decide to go to the school you know deep down is the right one for YOU, whichever school that might be. Best of luck.

how big is Michigan? i thought it had about the same size population as Northwestern.
