My d wanted to apply to Boston college early action so she could be considered for the Presidential Scholars. Should she apply ea or just wait for rd? The thing is, we need a scholarship at BC.

It's extremely hard to get BC's merit aid. I remember checking the archives here at CC, and students who got merit aid had sky high stats abd extraordinary ECs.

The deadline for EA at BC was November 1st.

From the BC website:

"Competitive standardized test scores also have a bearing on the selection process. The test scores for the middle half of the class of 2011 ranged from 1910 to 2110 on the SAT I, and 28 to 32 on the ACT."

Is your daughter expecting new test scores before the RD deadline?

Yes, she's taking the ACT in december.....but if she applies rd will she still be considered for merit aid??

Only early action applicants are considered for the Presidential Scholars program, and that is the only merit aid they offer. So no, she won't be.

The only true "merit" scholarships (non-need based aid) at BC are the 15 Presidential scholarships and the recipients of those are chosen solely from EA pool of applicants. So if you daughter has not yet applied, it's too late for that.

Would she qualify for need-based aid?
