I am going back to school a little later to get my BS. However, I don’t want to miss out on all the fun that college has to offer. I want to join a sorority, but don’t know if there are age requirements…Are there any other older nontraditional students who feel the same way or is this weird?
Focus on school. I go to a college that has a great party scene and although I do not care when I see older students at parties, many of my peers confront them and try to make them look bad.
I was 23 when I started, so I understand a little of what it’s like to be older than everyone. I’d say that you won’t be too old to party with the sororities if that’s what you want to do. When you start, you’ll be 5 years older than the average senior, and that’s the age difference between myself and my classmates (and I didn’t notice a huge difference). If nothing else, just try it out and see how it “fits.” You might find yourself thinking that everyone is too immature for you, but you never know.
There is a fairly large community of slightly older students at most universities, and many of the undergrads are vets. You’ll probably end up hanging with grad and older students.
