I've finally decided between colleges and I chose fordham. I plan on taking the 3-2 engineering program with Fordham and Columbia U. with a computer science major but I'm concerned about how well Fordham prepares students to head off to Columbia. From what I heard, I'll be spending the first 3 years at Fordham learning pre engineering while I go to learn actual engineering at columbia. Has anyone here finished the program or knows someone who has? I'm not worried so much about how the 3-2 will clash with my core classes or how difficult it will be but rather how well prepared I'll be once I get to columbia and how well students generally do once they get there. I'd appreciate any answers since I myself don't know anyone who's done this themselves :(

Very well prepared!

Look for other postings here on the 3-2 program. Basically you have to major in a strong science (math, chem etc), take certain required math classes (as provided and guided by the 3-2 program) and you will need a 3.2 average towards the end of your junior year to be recommended by the 3-2 program. You have that, admission to Columbia (or Case Western) school of engineering is AUTOMATIC. You then spend 2 years at the engineering school selected, meeting their standards, and graduate in 5 years with 2 degrees. I know of 2 students who did it. They worked hard but are doing very well now!

Plenty of threads on this subject. Here’s a recent one:
