3.7 GPA, 1440 SAT, state tennis champ

Son has all of the above credentials. How are his chances for Emory, Rice, others you might suggest? Thanks.

Is he being recruited by schools for tennis? What’s state?

Oh Michigan. The previous question stands though.

He’s not going to play in college. Used to play the competitive USTA circuit but has not in a few years. More interested in going to a very strong school.

Is the GPA unweighted?

Yes. Weighted is 4.1 as of just-ended junior year.

He sounds like a great fit for Emory and Rice based off of those stats- However, volunteer work, other ECs, and essays will play a big part in his odds as well.

Thanks.

He’s on the school quiz bowl team, does 25-50 hours CS a year, and was a Boys State delegate. Hopefully all of that will play well.

Oh, and marching band

He is competitive but it could go either way. Emory might be a better bet due to its higher acceptance rate.

GPA is below admission average. SAT is right around admission average for Emory but only at 25th percentile for Rice. Emory would be low reach and Rice would be a moderate high reach.

UMich in state would be his best bet and yet that would be a very very high match due to GPA.

Oops. Just found out you are not in state anymore. Forget about UMich then.

Update - SAT retaken. Now has 1480 super-score.
