3.72 HS GPA ---> ENGINEERING major in college

Does high school GPA predict your college GPA? I work hard and don’t procrastinate but I’m not the smartest person and idk how well I’ll do in engineering I’m going to be a freshman

Not directly, but past success does often predict future success…as long as you can handle the higher workload and adapt your study methods or learn new ones to cope.

Work ethic will serve you well. You don’t need to be a genius – almost no one is, and the rest of us mere mortals still manage to do fine.

You are fine. Just do engineering if that is what you think you want to do in life. Hard work is a better predictor of GPA than pretty much anything else.

Math skills are a huge predictor of engineering success. If your math placement test is borderline, enroll down rather than up.

Math and physics grades provide the best prediction. Usually GPA is used to tell how hard working you are. So for those who do very well on the SAT/ACT, but have a low GPA, they may be viewed as somebody who is capable of excelling but is possibly being lazy.

In college, your college GPA will almost certainly be lower than your high school GPA. For Umich, for example, at least half the students enter with a 3.9 high school GPA, and the average is in the mid to high 3.8 range. However, the average engineering undergrad GPA at the time of graduation usually comes out to be around 2.9. In college, you will be competing against those who performed similarly to you in high school.

You are fine…you either need to be naturally smart or a hard worker. I was the naturally smart type and my roommate was the hard worker. We both did well in engineering.
