@doubtful Yeah the reason why I have a 3.8 is because I’m taking the hardest classes I can. I’m an IB student taking Math HL2 Junior year (120 students in the world) taking Physics HL, All IBs and I took 3 AP tests and got a 4 on one, 5 on two… Still don’t think it’s enough for MIT
No one can say you will get into school MIT or Wharton. All we can say is that you have very good chance to get into one or both of them.
You could make sure that your application letters are carefully revised by a professional and thoroughly proofread. This will cost some money but it will be worth it. Your command of written english is not complete just yet.
@Runikk man a $800,000 software company… i sure u can already get in lol. not many ppl can start a software company that good… whats is ur software company btw?
With usamo and SAT perfect score you have a good chance for MIT (MIT accept 70% of usamo qualifiers)
“I have a 3.8 in unweighted GPA and a 4.8 Weighted GPA”
How was your weighted GPA calculated? Your Weighted GPA is exactly 1 point above unweighted. This possible only if you took purely AP/IB courses. Most high schools do not allow it.
Is your GPA only for junior and senior years? How about freshman and semaphore years? My son’s school does not allow AP for freshman year, and only allow 1 AP course for semaphores.
@Runikk:
Who were you in this $800K software company? Would the company have gotten started without you? How was it successful because of you? The MIT adcoms see lots of claims like this and will be looking beyond face value of your statement.
Write really good essays! And DO NOT write about something that the admissions people can see in your resume/application. Be unique, start early, and make sure it is a reflection of WHO you are not WHAT you have done. Good luck, but with your stats and such, I do not think that you’ll need it.
NO one can give a definite answer to your chance, however you are a good candidate, that’s for certain.
No, don’t limit yourself to one school. Don’t let your dream school disappoint you when you are rejected in the future. Like other posters said, you will get very good education wherever you go, be it MIT, stanford, Wharton, Cornell, or anywhere.
You need some matches and safeties. Since the cost isn’t problem, you have lots of choices…
Be in good terms with your teachers for your recom letters. LORs are very important because it tells the admission about your personality candidly. Also, write the essays early in August if possible.
Since you are a junoir, you should have plenty of time raising your 3.8 unweighted GPA. I’ts not bad at all, if somewhat unimpressive, but considering you are an IB candidate, that would be considered.
