3.8 GPA MIT???

Varsity golf (assuming you also play junior tournaments such as AJGA) takes up a huge amount of time, and the $800,000 number seems overblown. And why did you take a 36 ACT when you already had a perfect SAT?
Something doesn’t feel right, unless you’re exaggerating your activities.

@CEOSandeep try to get more revenue for the company and a higher net worth.

@1golfer1 I did play AJGA sophomore and freshman year, and I had studied for the ACT since 6th Grade. In 7th grade, I took it and got a 33. However, I’m Indian so anything less than a 36 means nothing. So I took the ACT and got a 36. However, my parents heard from their friends that the SAT matters more…So I studied for that and got perfect. I think I am a pretty good test taker. I wouldn’t say I’m exaggerating my activities, but I am assuming stuff for end of Junior Year, and part of Senior year. $800, 000 is not overblown, we have had many known clients…none of which I can tell you about

OP, by my comment, “you couldn’t make this stuff up,” I was referring to the choice auto-correct made in re-spelling your “sophomore” as “semaphore.”

PLEASE DON’T APPLY TO WHARTON GIVE PEOPLE LIKE ME A CHANCE!!! Go to MIT instead your in there.

Also how are you only 26th in math in MICHIGAN when you qualified for USAMO???

@Runikk 33 on the ACT in 7th GRADE?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?

@qpqpqp MIchigan is full of USAMO qualifiers, and I screwed up on the test %-(
yea, everyone else but my parents thought a 33 was really good…

No.other than fixing “MIT or none” and “33 ACT is bad”

wait 33 ACT is pretty bad though - but it’s a palindrome

were there 26+ usamo qualifiers from michigan? i’d predict around 10-15 at most

wait troy is pretty good… beat us at scioly nats cuz every one of our buildings managed to get unlucky…

but your 3.8 gpa is subpar when compared to people with 4.0 gpas and your 700s SAT II is subpar when compared to people with 800 SAT IIs

@69forthewin No one in my school had 800 SAT IIs, but that was my fear
@69forthewin which college are you planning to apply to

you don’t need 800 SAT II’s for MIT, just check the stats http://mitadmissions.org/apply/process/stats

yes you do

@Runikk I am planning to apply to my local community college since my application fee got waived

@69forthewin:
Please don’t misinform others on this list.

If you read both the mit admissions blogs, as well as the MIT decision threads on CC, you’ll see many applicants with SAT scores far below 800 who got accepted. You will also see numerous with scores of 800s who did not get in.

Agreed, just look at the MIT admission stats instead of saying non sense 69forthewin.
They’d much rather have a student with 700’s SAT with impressive EC’s and achievements, then a kid with perfect scores and nothing else. Especially since the difference between a 700’s and an 800 is only a few questions maybe even one or two for regular SAT.

Well I think it is somewhat yes and no.
While it’s preferred to have as high as possible score, it isn’t an ultimate indicator or a sole, decisive factor.

@jpm50 @meriks but you are also wrong. i do not think anyone with lower than 800 SAT will get into MIT. you can check statistics. lowest SAT score that gets in is usually at least 1000. anything below 800 that is not equal to 600 is just way way too low.

though, i do agree that most people with 800 SATs do not get in. i am pretty sure that everyone with 800 SATs do not get in. i think what you guys are saying is more nonsense than what i said.
