I just finished my junior year and ended with a 3.875 GPA, which puts my whole high school cumulative GPA at about a 3.8. My high school doesn’t provide a weighted GPA.
I received a 79.1 or a C+ in AP French this year and I’m terrified that that means I can’t get into any Top 50 school. I have a 31 ACT and fantastic recommendations, as well as 4 varsity letters, and I was junior class president in Student Government. I also have 80+ church service hours outside of school.
Do I have any chance of getting into a good school. Like, Bucknell or William and Mary? I’m a Virginia resident if that helps
Schools only really look at overall GPA so one C is like the equivalent of 2 Bs on your total GPA. As long as your overall GPA is good enough for the schools your fine. Bucknell helps a lot ED if you wanna go there. RD is much more competitive. William and Mary I’m not familiar with in state as I’m out of state so can’t help you there. For pretty much any school though, its overall GPA. 1 C won’t kill you if the rest of your grades are good.
Yes you do have a chance. I was William & Mary out of state and I got in with a lower UW GPA and a few C’s as well. Granted, I had good essays, test scores, and extracurriculars, but they view your application holistically and you seem to be involved extracurricularly. But it’s no guarantee.
