Take a year off and do a year of service with an AmeriCorps program. Take some online courses during your gap year. Apply to a state school, transfer later.

SUNY should be your best bet and you could get into more with great, and I do mean GREAT essays.

I want to go to a SUNY to save money but my parents wont let me go to Buffalo and I won’t get into Binghamton, so I am left with Stony Brook becuase they are the only 3 that offer Engineering, I wish the SUNY system was like California.

I think you should apply to West Virginia University as a safety. You will definitely get in, and they have a decent engineering program with great facilities that is what you make of it. In other words, there are many brilliant professors at WVU who can teach you alot, and many opportunities for the motivated, hard working student. WVU is a great second chance for many kids. There is a senior mechanical and aerospace engineering student at WVU who for the past two years has won the Truman scholarship and the Barry Goldwater scholarship.

oh and one more thing: the average Math SAT for engineering students at WVU is in the 600s, much higher than the university average.

If I can get my parents to let me apply I will, I also applied to York College of PA and Drexel on Feb. 4th after I posted this, if I don’t here back from a school by feb 27th they will probably let me apply and it is pretty cheap even for oos.

My math SAT is 670.

Is it possible to still get if I apply after march 1st?

I just map quested WVU and it is 6.5 hours away from my house, I live just north of NYC, do you know of any school like WVU that would be a little closer to NYC?

Soccer…Univ. of Rhode Island, East Stroudsburg in Pa., West Chester Univ. in Pa., Some of the Penn State satellite colleges.

URI deadlines passed I got into a PSU satelitte campus and the other two schools don’t have engineering.

@MBJ - do you think I ahve any chance at UDel?

Sorry if the spelling is off I did it from my phone.

Yes, WVU admissions is rolling, they keep accepting until they fill up. The application is online and it can be done in 5 minutes.

I just got accepted to Drexel University so pending how much aid I got I don’t need to apply to WVU. Because the $45 would have had to been my money.

I just got accepted to York College of PA and it is 22k total so I got into my financial safety.

Go back in time and put effort in!
