What kinds of problems are you getting wrong? Are the ones you get wrong stupid mistakes, or things you don't understand?

Some are just careless errors. Others are because of the time limit. I guess I just need to practice more.

the SAT practice score doesn't give u a real look at what u will get on teh real SAT. It depends on what test prep book you got the practice test off of. I did the SAT I for Dunnies and got a 790 cr, 750 Math, and 700 Writing.

then I did the Barron's and I got all in the 600's.

so you can't tell simply by the practice tests.

to achieve a 36 on the ACT. u can only miss about 1-2 question on the science and reading. 3 on the grammer and the math.

Even that probably won't cut it. Missing 2 on the Science and Reading and 3 on the English and Math will give you around a 34. Obviously it will vary slightly with different test forms, but I doubt there exist any forms for which those scores would translate to a perfect 36.

There's not much I can say about careless errors. Be sure to read the question carefully, but quickly (yeah, yeah, I know - easier said than done). But if you work at it, you'll be fine.

When taking the test, keep the time limit in your mind. For the science section, you don't need to read most of the info there, since a lot of the questions only refer to the graphs.

Hope that helps! :)

2006-2007 Official ACT Practice Test

Much better!!!
This time I did not read the passages for the R section, and I did the easy questions in the S section first. Little noise, but I learned to concentrate so that is pretty negligible. :)
Nilkn, what are you? ;)

nice job shadow ....how did u improve ???

Nilkn, what are you?

What do you mean?

Anyway, looking back on my post I realize it sounded mean. I didn't intend to be harsh or discouraging. I think what you're trying to do is very good. Even if you don't get that elusive 36, you probably still deserve it. ;)

Nilkn, I meant how did you predict that I would miss 2 on the S and R tests, and 3 on the E and M tests and still score a 34! :)

I didn't predict how many you would miss. If I didn't misunderstand him, coolfez said that if somebody happened to miss that combination of questions he would still get a composite of 36. I was just pointing out that, according to the practice test conversion charts I have, those scores would most likely translate to a 34 instead of a 36.

On the practice test on ACT's website, those raw scores translate as follows:

English: 3 wrong = 34
Math: 3 wrong = 34
Reading: 2 wrong = 36
Science: 2 wrong = 32

Composite = (34+34+36+32)/4 = 34

5 more days.
More tips would be appreciated. :)

great job improving ur scores...
I gotta try not reading the reading passages
thats what kills me

the english and math and science i do great on

follow me till D-day

2006-2007 Practice test
M-32
E-32
R-27
S-27

34, no prep. 1500/1600 SAT (800 CR, 700 M), also no prep.

Tough to say, though. I would shoot for something a little lower. I mean, it's great to be optimistic, but there's something to be said for realism.

Test 2

ACT Real Practice Test 3
Math: 33
Eng : 31
R : 28
Sc : 30
Composite- 30.5

is that a 30 or a 31?

31 30.5=31 30.4=30

31
.5 and up are rounded up

Reflections about today's test:
E: Medium
M: Hard in the beginning, but very easy toward the end
R: Easy
S: Medium Hard

Still strong about that 36. :)
