<p>This is where we met last year, it's casual, close to the South Gate, and most of the hotels. There's a variety of places...and I think Hornetguy may have suggested the place. Not sure if one of the appointee's families coordinated the reservation. When we went last year the cadets and appointees sat together at a large table and the parents sat at an adjacent table. Another consideration was making sure the cadets had rides and that they were getting back on time.</p>
<p>I am not one that really has a preference, do you guys think we should coordinate soon, or wait until we get the March appointees on board??? ;)</p>
<p>I am willing to help in any way possible if needed... :)</p>
<p>I had suggested and went to Famous Dave's dinner last year. I would recommend it again. Anything in Briargate (California Pizza Kitchen, Biaggi's, PF Changs, Ted's Montana Grill) are also good choices. Things by the hotels are red robin, olive garden, cracker barrel, and BWW.</p>

<p>That's what the SSS is for. I got out every Sunday last year AND got to skip the 3 post-recognition k-tests 2010 had to do. :)</p>

<p>Is there any kind of shuttle transportation or the such from the air port to AFA? Because I plan on going to the orientation by myself (parents don't want to go).</p>
<p>There are a number of different hotels that the Academy designates as pick-up locations. Last year I flew into Colorado Springs for orientation, took a shuttle to the Academy hotel, and stayed there for the night (wherever we have the CC dinner will probably be within walking distance of the hotel). The next morning, will send buses to the Academy hotel (there are a couple of other hotels too but I don't remember which ones) and they'll pick you up and take you to the hill. I recommend you stay at Academy hotel because you're sure to meet lots of other appointees there and it's the most convenient. Wherever you stay, you definitely don't need a car. I came by myself last year too. :)</p>
