I think I would side with @PurpleTitan on this one. For some fields, namely investment banking and management consulting, the school you attend matters… a lot. Somebody from Ross/Stern/Ivies, etc. WILL have more opportunities than those who come from less prestigious programs in the field. Getting your final placement at the end of your four years, as I understand, is often based largely on your performance in your internship that you partake in the summer after your junior year. How does acquire an internship at a top bank (yes, there is a pecking order)? One needs to come from the right school with the right experience (the latter of which was often acquired in the first place because of the right school).
That is not to say that those from less prestigious programs cannot make it. They can, it is just tougher (although the OP has gotten into some “target” schools, so this does not apply).
