everyday for years at 5pm on a friday, local station played that song, for DH, it was the song to signify the weekend...

celebrian-That is true at my school as well. While there are definitely the groups of "antisocial nerds", our top students are pretty hardcore social.

No, the point of 420 is just to smoke. Find me people actually doing things about pot legalization and I'll agree with you. I know an incredible number of people that smoke, and not one uses 420 as a day for activism. I myself am fairly involved, I give some money to NORML and have read a fair bit about the issue, but where I live, there are few people that would disagree with me about legalization. Oh yeah, and I have the week off from school, so I didn't have to skip anything.

If I find some people making some kind of effort to support the legalization movement, I'll join them and reconsider 420. Until then, I'll just think of it as another day to smoke.

And Jimmy, no one cares who has tried weed. Tons of our political leaders and various wealthy people have.

Oh yeah, and I'm a militant civil libertarian. I think I should be able to walk down the street with a federally banned cycling helmet on (I only know about this because I'm something of a cyclist), talking about overthrowing the government with a friend with a brick of black tar heroin under each arm.

Marijuana Legalization ----> Government taxing the hell out of it------>Expensive marijuana------>Bad for potheads

but you gotta take into account the legal fees from potheads who get caught

and did you know that there's a drug tax right now? legally, you're supposed to buy "drug stamps" for your pot, crack, etc. i'm not kidding.

Yeah, the drug companies would have a fit, takes away from their prescription money...

Why hemp is such a big deal, who knows....its like making poppie flowers illegal...

by the way, here's a link to the Kansas government page that talks about drug taxes

it's a good read

happy 420

i'm not a big cmoker, and really not a pothead, but i do admit to stealing a cig or two from my dad verrrrrry occasionally. :/

it's weird.. the last people you'd expect from my school party and smoke and drink.. party hard AND get the grades.. what a life :P

"Marijuana Legalization ----> Government taxing the hell out of it------>Expensive marijuana------>Bad for potheads"

I don't know how much you pay for weed, but it is already pretty expensive. If the government was taxing as much weed that could be sold, they wouldn't need to put the taxes so high because of the volume that would be sold.

http://norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=4421

As an illegal drug, marijuana is already one of the top 10 cash crops in the US. The best case for legalization is how much money the government would make.

The government would tax the hell out of the stuff that was sold publicly. As far as buying from other people, they wouldn't be able to do a thing about it. It just wouldn't be illegal. I wouldn't buy from public companies, they would probably do to weed what they've already done to cigarettes/tobacco (add lots of nasty crap).

Relative to weed in the rest of the country, I actually get mine fairly inexpensively. Of my two best connections, one has decent stuff that's really cheap, the other has amazing stuff that's slightly more expensive.

so if we legalize weed because people use it anyway, why don't we legalize murder too? What about drunk driving? People still break those laws so why don't we make those legal too?
