haha i'll never be able to open that e-mail.
in fact, i still haven't checked my january sat scores..
i know this is silly, but i'm just too afraid to know the truth

^^ actually your not alone on that one...i haven't checked my USH score from January

"I'm sooooo excited! 5 seconds of looking at my decision will change and determine my entire life!"

mmm...Don't agree.

"A man's character is his fate" - Heraclitus

I am much more inclined to agree with the above than the below:

"A man's college diploma is his fate"

Wish I could go to Hogwarts.

You know how gmail gives you a preview of your email by putting the first couple of words of the email next to the email subject? I wonder what the first words of the email are.

Probably something along the lines of "Dear --------------,". Not quite sure about that though, it's just a guess. ;)

i think the best way to go is to put all of the acceptances that you've already gotten right next to you...that way, if you get in, then you can print the e-mail out (many times) and add it to the stack...if not, then just look at the acceptances you already have...that's what i'm going to do, anyway...

yah HOGWARTS ALL THE WAY!!!

screw college, i'm going to hogwarts XD

i wish.

If Hogwarts existed, it would probably be as hard to get in as getting in Harvard.
And imagine Hogwarts subforum on CC: "Did anyone get invitation letter??? I didn't! If I don't get it by mid-June, am I doomed? I don't want to end up like a muggle!!!" lol

I've been thinking of it, too! I hope they won't give away decisions in first few words that we can see!

the few acceptances i have start with "congratulations", "i am pleased to...", "i am writing to inform you...", and "on behalf of ..." the fourth is the most ambiguous, but they wouldnt say "on behalf of" unless it's an acceptance.
as for that gmail problem, thats why i used my yahoo address for college apps.

For those of you with gmail, you can turn off the preview feature which shows the beginning of the e-mail. After you sign in, click on "Settings" which is on the upper right hand of the screen next to your gmail address. The "General" tab for your settings will be displayed. The eighth option is "Snippets." Click on the radio button for the option "No snippets - Show subject only." Then click on "Save Changes" at the bottom of the page. Now only the subject line of the e-mail will show in your inbox.

muggle: I guess a squib could be worse.

Imagine deleting the email by mistake and having to wait for the dramatic mail.

Thanks, 2blue, I think I might just do that

What kind of an idiot would delete an email from Harvard, especially on March 31st?? It would have to be someone who (unlike me) isn't dying to get in :)

It will be "However, we regret..."

eighteen days. stupid suspense.

13days!!!!

how did you get 13 days?

oh WHOOPS wrong acceptance date (i was thinking of the UC date >< )

When my D received her email from Stanford, the heading said only "Your Admission Decision From Stanford," so she was sooooo afraid to open it that she cried for 15 minutes before she opened it! She even called me during that time. I said "you will be the same wonderful person tomorrow, whether or not Stanford accepts you...."

Just remember that: it won't change who you are and you will still be that person who has accomplished all those amazing things, which is saying A LOT; even being a candidate for Harvard these days means you have worked very hard!!!
