I’m a junior and I’m sure my GPA is going to finish at around a 2. (1.4/1.7/1.9/senior year). My main problem in high school was that I was lazy plus the school is hard, it’s ranked as one of the top schools in the state. I am now currently considering community college in Boston (Roxbury CC and Bunker Hill) and transferring. There is a MassTransfer program that can get you into any UMass with a 3.0 in community college. I want to know what other colleges I could get into from Boston area community colleges with a really good GPA like BC, BU, etc. Just curious because I don’t know how successful people from community colleges are
Community college is basically a second chance for you. As long as you work hard and develop your work ethic, you should have a good GPA overall. In my opinion, I think you can get into most places in your area, but don’t quote me on that. You should do the research and see which places suit you best. Good luck.
It would seem you can get into most colleges with a 40% or higher admission rate fairly easily with a good GPA from CC.
People from community colleges, who then go on to finish a degree at a 4 year college, have just as much chance for success as someone who attended all 4 years at that college. No employer cares where you started college- they only look at where you finished. This is your chance to turn things around and kick it up a notch in community college so that you have plenty of options when it comes time to transfer. The higher you can keep your GPA, the more colleges will be interested and the better chance at possible scholarships. The best part is that you don’t ever have to take SAT or ACT tests!
