Hey Im new here so I was just wondering if this is a good 4-year plan for high school classes:
Freshman Year: (Current Classes)
Freshman Concert Band
Biology
French 1
US History
Geometry
Honors English 9
Sophmore Year: (Already Scheduled)
Wind Symphony
Chemistry
French 2
AP World History
Pre-calculus (Plan on testing out of Algebra 2)
Honors American Lit.
Junior Year:
Wind Ensemble
AP Chemistry
AP Physics 1 Algebra-Based
AP Calculus BC (Its either AB or BC not both)
AP Psychology
Civics & Economics (Both required semester classes in order to graduate)
Honors British Lit.
Senior Year:
Wind Ensemble
AP Physics 2 Algebra-Based
AP Statistics (the only math class left)
AP Gov. & Politics
AP Language
Astronomy (semester)
Calc 3 (community college professor teaches it in our school) (also a semester)
My dream school is MIT
All of the non-honors or AP classes were either required or not available in an honors of AP form so I took almost the most challenging schedule I can get at my school.
comrade, what you really need is a five year plan. jk jk.
looks good. if its what you want to take and if its very rigorous, do it. nothing is really going to get you into mit, but this schedule certainly won’t prevent it.
i assume there are other students in your school 2 grades above in math. it would be very advantageous for you to petition your school to introduce multivariable calculus or a post BC course that is a whole year long. Consider talking to your consoler after junior year or harassing your school’s principle.
^ perhaps, perhaps not. I only had 2 years of a foreign language and was accepted to that tier of schools (no URM/Legacy).
Take what interests you! As long as your counselor will check the “most rigorous” course schedule box, you’re good to go.
AP Calc BC is a year long. We can either take AB or BC but ive seen some people on here who have taken both.
Ive had alot of trouble finding time to take more french classes but I dont have a Whole lot of time.
The reason I am taking Astronomy and Calc 3 instead of an AP class is that I want to go into astrophysics and I am pretty good at math and colleges said follow your intrests while still being rigororous and I really dont want to ditch french if i dont have to so maybe i could test out of civics and economics so i can take french
I have a problem with classes (currently) being too easy so I figured instead of going on the normal math track I spend my summer actually doing something productive and jumping into pre calc spohmore year
I am not a math expert but I know several people that are and most would say that Algebra 2/Trig is the gateway to higher math. I’d take a course and test out of pre-calc.
If your Alg 2 class includes Trig (ask about “trig identities”), I agree. Take Alg2 and inquire about ways to skip pre-calc. At our school, pre-calc involves a lot of review, and the really cool pre-calc topics aren’t covered much.
