4 yr. college to CCC

Hey guys,
I'm really unhappy at the private four year school I currently attend. I don't like the campus environment and I'm looking at about $60,000 in debt. I'm an out of stater but I absolutely fell in love with UCLA when I visited family in LA during high school. I am contemplating transferring to a CCC, doing TAP, and then applying for admission to UCLA. As is stands right now the pros are:
1.UCLA is basically my dream school. I would love to spend two years there.
2.I will be able to establish state residency, including being financially independent, which will dramatically reduce the cost of college.
3.Although it will take 5 years instead of 4, my future loans at my current school will amount to well over a year's salary which I think helps equal things out.
The cons:
1. I might get rejected. This is really the biggest issue.

At my current school (which is ranked in the 40s-50s according to US News) I have a 3.6 GPA and a 1400 (out of 1600) on the SAT in high school. I'm sick to my stomach thinking about spending another three years at my current school but starting new at a CCC is also pretty scary. Any thoughts would be really, really appreciated, thanks in advance.

i wouldn't do it if i were in your position. just apply to la for grad studies. if you dont get into la you're stuck at a junior college which is like hell on earth

i agree with hotelmosc.... just finish undergrad and go to UCLA for grad school.
btw, which college are you currently at??

why don't you just try transferring while you're at your four year school, that way if you don't get in you won't be stuck at a junior college?
