I forgot to put my parent's 401k contribution in CSS profile. I only read pension. When I filled out the FAFSA, I realized I made a mistake.

I wonder whether or how I should fix it. I guess people can find it from W-2's. I am not sure how it will affect the decision. But a friend told me schools didn't count 401k contribution.

BTW, one thread mentions the profile can be resent by pay $16 + $9. Anyone did it? Tomorrow I am going to call them to find out.

On my original FAFSA and Profile, I did not add in the $15,500 as additional non-taxable income. When I was sending in amended versions, I noticed that IRA’s and 401K’s should be included, so I added in the additional amount. The EFC increased about 3,000 with this change to income. I hope this was the correct way to do it. Of course, the school would have determined this from the W-2, but I didn’t want to appear as if we were holding anything back. I have never heard that you can pay additional fees and re-submit the PRofile, only that you should make physical changes to a paper copy and send to each school with the changes. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I talked to Collegeboard. Basically i was told I could send a hard copy to each school for the revision if I want to and schools should know the change from the tax return or W-2.
