Did anyone get automated phone calls in the early hours of 10/9 from a Creighton phone number (402 area code)? What a nightmare!! The night before the SAT. We had to unplug our phones after the third call.

Yep, I got those too. Thankfully my cell phone was on silent. They were CUalert phone calls due to a possible shooting west of campus. Those type of phone calls don’t happen that often, especially at that hour.

What’s really weird is, we do not have a Creighton student in our house. We have a senior in HS who hasn’t even applied to Creighton. Why do they have our phone number on the emergency phone system?

I got a call later in the day apologizing for the error. It explained something along the lines of “if you have received any correspondence from Creighton admissions in the last three years” the University has your phone number and that is why you got the calls.

I got an e-mail today saying that there was a glitch in the communication system. Only students and staff were supposed to get that alert. Instead, it was sent to virtually anyone who’s phone number is in creighton’s records. Mystery solved.
