<p>No I fully agree that the international admit rate is extremely low! I would speculate sub 5%. That is not in contention. I was asking about the quota. To the best of my knowledge, only MIT has a FORMAL quota for international admits. The rest of the top tier schools, which without a doubt have some sort of informal quota, all state that no such thing exist. :)</p>

Stanford has always been good athletically, so that doesn’t make any sense. As far as celebrities influencing applications, I think that it actually can get more people to apply who seriously stand a chance of admission. Most of the new applicants applying to Brown for Emma Watson may get rejected, but I’m sure that some are influenced to apply by more subtle factors like the increased overall hype and reputation of the school.</p>
