I'm a sophomore with only one AP class, which is AP world history. I have honors geometry, and the rest of my classes are regular. I am a lazy student, who requires at least 30 min of break for every hour of studying. I plan on taking 5 ap classes next year to get my ***** together for college, which I hear is very demanding. About my school, my school day is divided into 4 periods, meaning I have period 1,3,5,7 one day, and 2,4,6,8 next day, each period being 90 minutes each. Period 4 is a free period for doing whatever homework you have. So realistically, I generally have less homework than regular people.

I plan on taking AP English Lang, since my english is complete ass. I need to hone my essay writing skills for those application letters. Maybe 2 sciences, since I plan on a career involving medicine. Ideas on whether I can do it or not?

If you admit you’re a lazy student, don’t take 5 APs. To be able to do well on 5 APs, you need to be able to get your **** together and do work ahead of time if you want any sleep. Plus, studying can often take 3-5 hrs for a hard subj. I recommend 3 next year

I’m a fairly lazy student, and I am currently in 5 AP classes. Depending on the courses and what you like you can do it.
I’m taking: AP Gov
AP Micro/Macro
AP Physics B
AP Calculus AB
and AP English Lit

The only way I’m able to do all these classes and manage all A’s is because the classes are really easy and have little homework (aside from calc and physics; the teacher is homework crazy). You’ll have to look at the AP classes offered and the teachers workload to decide if its possible. AP Environmental (self studied in a few days… got a 4, disappointed), AP Physiology (I’ve heard it was easy), AP stats, and AP human geography would be extremely easy AP’s. AP English Lang is a pain and requires alot of work.

A schedule (at least at my school) Like what is below would be doable
AP Enviro
AP Physics B/AP Bio/AP chemistry (or one of the easy APs above)
AP English Language (this would require the most work)
One of the easy APs I listed above (or a history, gov, or econ)
One of the easy APs again

Btw I get 7-8 hours of sleep and have ALOT of ECs that I involved in and spend alot of time on.

Totally depends on your school. For the most part AP classes give less homework that is checked, but they want you to study on your own and manage bigger assignments. Though APUSH gave me tons of homework pretty often. You shouldn’t expect AP Lang to make your english better though, just by taking it. That requires your own improvement, and while it’s possible, and hopefully the case, you improve after taking it, the class won’t ease you into writing. It’s expected you are already a strong reader and writer and truly care about the subject.

Thank you for the correction @Animefan1998; the OP most likely knew what I meant due to like you said, “There is no such thing.” I do homework while typing up responses, so I most likely misspelled psychology; autocorrect then probably changed it to physiology and I missed it.

Taking 5 APs is pretty strenuous, although it varies by the classes you take and by your school. I take 4 APs (5 periods) but I’ve found that as long as you don’t procrastinate and manage your time really efficiently, it shouldn’t be as bad as you think. There are times when you do feel like you’re about to crack, but they’re periodic since sometimes teachers like to make everything due the same week…so my advice for those times is just to think and plan practically and brace through it. Well, that’s all from my experience; I hope it helps :)

I’m in 5 AP classes (well 3AP & 2IB) + anatomy and it’s honestly not that bad as long as you stay on top of deadlines and manage your time wisely feel free to PM me with any questions
