5 year (BS in Engineering+MBA) vs. Work 2 years and go to top business scho

I'm currently majoring in chemical engineering and got accepted to a 5-year program at RPI with a MBA. However, I am not sure if it's the best choice. I have a high GPA of 3.5, and I scored a 600 on my GMAT without studying. If I do the co-terminal program, I have to pay 30K for my final year. My first four years were free due to my scholarships. I was also told that you can't get both an MBA and an Executive MBA. I'm afraid that I won't be able to go to a better school, or the company that I work for would not pay for Harvard or Wharton. Should I take the risk? Maybe, if I don't get accepted to the top schools, I can go part-time at a local college, but I'm still not sure if the college would be better than RPI. Does where you go to get your MBA matter? Based on salary, which road should I take?

PS I already got an offer of 65K at a refinery.

the best thing would be to work before your MBA. And the school you go to for business isn’t everything; IT’S THE ONLY THING!

any other suggestions?

I would try engineering for a few years and then go get your MBA.

You’ll get a lot more out of the classes when you can look at the material within the context of your own real-world experience.

A few years in industry can also give you a better idea of what you want to do with your MBA: management, strategy consulting, etc.

Coming out of your MBA program, you’ll be more valuable and have more options if you have real world experience than if you don’t.

high gpa of 3.5? gmat 600? harvard/wharton?

wow dude you make me think i have a really good shot at those schools
