529 plan in a relative's name - how to use it?

<p>So do people routinely <em>not</em> disclose 529s where they are the listed beneficiary when they’re held by uncles, aunts, grandparents, etc., even when asked directly if they expect monetary support from a relative… such as in the Profile questionnaire? If so, why would they ever report anything in answer to that question? Is it just a freebie question to catch a few less-crafty rubes who actually think they are under an obligation to be honest?</p>
