I'm a "gifted" (>.> Not a genius lol) 13 year old, and took the March 8th SAT. Overall my score was good, 1880, but I got a pretty low score on the essay. Writing has always been a strong subject for me, and I've gotten straight A's in school for it. I ended up not using very on-topic examples--on top of all, there really wasn't enough time to physically write the essay, even though I wrote virtually nonstop.

My scores were good enough to get into gifted programs and stuff, and by the time I have to take the SATs officially they'll have been revised, but I'm still rather bummed out (especially looking at some of my peers, y'know the 2400, cancer-cure-finding, overachiever "whiz kids" :( ). I am planning on taking the SAT again in June, because it's the last opportunity to get into a gifted group I was 20 points away from on one section.

How concerned should I be about the essay? I'm certainly going to do some practice essays before June--any specific resources for the essay you'd recommend? And any examples (literary, historical, something "personal" I can adapt, because I still need to work on my short-time BSing lol) you like to use?
