60 percent of middlebury students go abroad their junior year. How would this work for serious athletes. Do they take one of their four years off from athletics to go abroad?

often, it’s a semester abroad and may not interfere with a sport. if you play a fall sport, look for spring semester programs, etc. otherwise, it gets down what you feel is more important, and coaches know you’re there for academics and to broaden your experiences, not athletics. . .right;-)

A lot of athletes go abroad.
The majority of people who go abroad do so for only one semester, so fall athletes can go for the spring, spring athletes for the fall. It is possible in some winter sports to go abroad for a semester and still play, but it depends on the sport and the program you’re hoping to do.
