9, 10, 11 in India and 12 in US - What to watch out for US admissions?

Did 9, 10, 11 grades in India (CBSE) and will do 12th grade in US - What to watch out for US admissions?

For common app, will the app be treated as resident?

What could be the challenges for GPA?

Most of the big US colleges/universities understand the Indian system well. Since you will be doing grade 12 in the US, you will be applying as a US resident (much easier statistical odds).

Typically each college divides up the geographic regions for admissions counselors. The internationals are pooled separately. So my guess is that you will be assigned to the US state in which you currently reside. However the counselor may not have experience reading Indian transcripts, and hence may need some help. You might want to include a one page summary of the Indian education system as an addendum to the application to help them understand.

Are you a US citizen or permanent resident? If neither then you may be treated an international when it comes to financial aid?
