9th Grade Courses?

Hello! I'm currently in the 8th grade, and I'm wondering if my 9th grade schedule isn't challenging or rigorous enough.

Freshman:
Honors English
Honors World Geography
Spanish 1
Alegbra 1 (I'm supposed to be in Geometry next year, but I'm being forced to retake Algebra)
General Science (I would have liked to take Biology, but in order to do it I would have to be concurrently enrolled in Geometry)

I plan to take Geometry over the summer, and do Algebra 2 in sophmore year.

Intended Sophmore Year Schedule:
Honors English
A.P. World History
Biology
Algebra 2 (Possibly honors?)
Pyschology
Spanish 2

Then, I would like to take Chemisty over the summer.

Junior Year:
Honors English
A.P. US History
A.P. Chemistry
Honors Pre-Calculus
A.P. Psychology
Spanish 3

Senior Year:
A.P. English 12
A.P. Statistics (I might just take regular statistics, still deciding)
Physiology
A.P. Economics
A.P. Government

I would like to either major in Political Science or Sociology for undergrad, and would eventually like to go to Law school.

Current ECs:
-Intern for the "Ami Bera for Congress Campaign"
-Writer for Associated Content
-Vice President of my Christian Youth Group (YPD)
-Memeber of Young Democrats of America
-Tutor for 2 years (I mainly tutored elementary school students)
-Signed with Ford Models in San Francisco and Los Angeles (I know that this is not relevant to my intended major, but modeling is a big part of my life and I would like to continue it during college.)
-Track and Field
-Intern at a talent management company (LG Management)

Here are the colleges I would like to attend:
Tuskegee University
Howard University
Spelman College
UCLA (I live in California, so I am constantly encouraged to apply to a UC for financial purposes. Also, my mother attended Cal Berkley.)
Georgetown
Columbia (Maybe?)
Xavier University

Do you think that my class schedule isn't challenging enough to get into these colleges? Thank you in advance! :)

Not enough. They want more.

Wow, you’re planning ahead ;)

Class wise, you’re fine. Focus on your EC’s and finding something to ‘stand out’ (perhaps the modeling), if you’re really that concerned. But, as a senior right now, I’d say remember to have fun and relax during high school. It really is a lot more fun when you do that and you can still get into a good school.

Yeah try to take Algebra I over the summer so you can take Geometry next year and Biology so you don’t fall behind.

Other than that, sounds good, but don’t dive into anything you can’t handle.

My high school won’t allow incoming 9th graders to do summer school, therefore I’m not able to do Algebra over the summer.

@Swammeyjoe, thanks! I’m just really concerned that I my classes aren’t rigorous enough or if I’ll fall behind, since I’m being forced to take again Algebra next year. Most of my friends will be going to same school as I am next year, so overall I’m really excited for high school! @Ibfailure, what do you suggest me taking? :)

Is it only courses at your school or in general?

If only at your school, try taking online summer school. See first through your guidance counselor if your school accepts the credits.

It’s only at my school, and all the places outside my school don’t have Algebra 1 classes for INCOMING FRESHMAN. All the places that I looked at only accepts current freshman. My counsler said that she does not advice me to take any math classes online… haha idk what to do!

^■■■■■

I think it’s amazing.

I meant ■■■■■ to ibfailure

Wow, you really planned ahead!
Wish I was that organized when I was younger.

Anyway, those ECs wouldn’t really matter. The Common App only asks for ECs 9th grade and up. Colleges are only concerned with what ECs you participated in your 4 years of HS. Everything else before that is not that useful unless you continued them throughout the years. Otherwise, keep up the grades, be involved (which you seem to be now! :)), and enjoy HS! It’s great that you’re taking an early initivative now.

@Shmluza, okay! :)

Edit:

Yeah ■■■■■, or just pushed to the limit by parents because they got rejected by Stanford

@Jenonymous, Thank you! Yeah, I figured that my current ECs probably wouldn’t be relevant, but I am planning to keep modeling and continue to intern for Ami Bera (well at least until he gets elected haha)!

@Praying4Luck, are calling me a ■■■■■? Or someone else? :)
