In your case I would keep the deposit on the school who needs it for the dorm and then wait until the last week of April and then withdraw from that school if she doesn’t want it and then accept the other one she does want. That way you don’t have outstanding deposits at two schools.
@SansSerif I highly doubt the two schools in question, of which I’m fairly certain from your previous posts, would care if you double deposited. Neither are highly selective schools with a waiting list of applicants desperate to gain admittance. State universities are used to students changing their minds. They are probably more than happy to take your non-refundable deposits, especially here in PA! My son has also changed his mind after submitting acceptance and housing deposits at a PASSHE school. However, he now wants to attend community college, so we don’t have to worry about housing. In your case, I’d recommend you deposit at the second school, even if your daughter isn’t yet certain which school she prefers. Of course, she should make up her mind by May 1 and inform the school she doesn’t choose.
