What are my chances for these schools?
I have a cumulative gpa of 3.0, solely to my freshman year gpa of a 2.4 (grandfather had a stroke and I missed a lot of school traveling to Florida to see him), i have received a 3.5 avg my junior year. I am the captain (will be 3 years straight in senior yr, i am a junior now) of the varsity golf team that has gone undefeated in our league 4 years straight. I believe i can play golf for most of the schools i get into. I will be taking 2-3 ap classes next year, most likely AB calc, AP bio/physics, and maybe another AP math (stats or econ). I have sats of 1720 at the moment (will update when new scores come out next week) but i plan to have somewhere in the 1800-2000 range. I also attend an EXTREMELY rigorous college prep private school on Cape Cod. I want to study biology in college, and possibly either go to vet school or grad school for zoology/wildlife biology. I have quite a number of schools on my "list" so far so i would like to see if anyone would mind helping me weed them out. Currently I am looking at Boston Collegelegacy, Tuftslegacy, UC Santa Barbara, UConn, Clemson, Eckerd, Flagler, FSU, UF, UGA, Holy Cross (MA)*legacy, High Point, James Madison, LSU, Loyola Marymount(CA), UMiami, Northeastern, UNC Chapel Hill, San Diego State, UTampa, and Trinity (MA). I am aware this is spread all across the country and want to narrow my choice down at much as possible. If any of you are aware of any solid biology programs at colleges i didn't mention please tell me. Thank you.

Most colleges have a good bio program, assuming a college has decent academics it will probably have a decent bio program. Your GPA will hurt you and a couple schools on your list seem very unlikely due to the GPA/SAT combo. The easiest way to narrow down that list is to start coming up with additional things that the schools must have. The schools on your list vary a lot in size, location, environment and so on. Perhaps you decide you don’t want small schools, that will help you eliminate at least a few schools and so on. Also how are your ECs (do you do a lot besides golf)? Finally do you think you can get recruited for golf?

My school is a very small private school so it doesn’t offer too many ECs, but i am a part of most of the offerings (Blue Key, CSO, basketball, working,) and i’m also going to be taking a college course over the summer in some aspect of biology, as well as attempting to take an internship at a local zoo or veterinary hospital. My real goal is to try and work with wild animals, whether it be a wildlife veterinary, wildlife biology, or even zoologist. I also like to run Spartan Races, I will be doing my second this summer, as well as a summer basketball league (i doubt i could play for college however). Also, for college, I would prefer a 6000+ undergrad school, warm climate, and near the ocean, due to the fact that my job preference would be with coastal wildlife. If anyone has any ideas on a college not mentioned that could potentially meet these standards I would love to hear them.

My school also only offers a few APs, I.E. physics, biology, chemistry, Calc, Stats, Econ, English, and Art History. These all are only available senior year, with only 1 other AP course offered prior (American History, which I didn’t take, because I didn’t meet the requirements, and it is said to be the hardest course for every student at my school).

In that case the Florida schools are probably your best bet…
