I spoke with my daughter at length last night and I have to say that this whole process has been more exciting than rushing a sorority! As of this moment we have one pre tap. Yesterday she received invitations to “walks” and more rush meals today. She has two meals for breakfast and lunch today with two different groups and then was invited to attend pretap picnics with two different groups (which she can’t go to either due to other obligations) It is all so exciting. Unfortunately at this point she is feeling sad that she can only pick one. All in all it has been a very fun process for her.
@memmsmom. Congrats to your daughter! That sounds so exciting. So at this point, are all contacts an indication of a pre-tap/tap? Like the extra meals or picnics? I have a little hunch that my son is attending some events today but not sure what exactly since he won’t say. Hoping its a good sign though. But I know what you mean about choosing! He really likes two groups so we’ll see. He said he doesn’t plan to text late tonight but sometimes I get lucky if someone tags him in a picture!
@Musicmom2015 She had to say “maybe” to her pre tap because she had already planned on lunches with other groups and she isn’t the kind of person to blow anyone off. I suspect that some of the additional talks and meals are to convince her to say yes but that is just my guess. She really likes 2 of the 4 she has been talking to and so it will be interesting to see how her days goes today. The actual tap night is supposed to be a secret but based on things she has heard, she thinks it may be tonight because nobody was scheduling any meals for tomorrow. Just yesterday and today. Either way she has done all of her homework in advance just in case.
Ok, thanks! And my son has said for days that tap night is tonight. Good luck to her in her decision!
So how did he do? For privacy reasons I wont say who my daughter went with but she sure had a lot of fun running around after accepting her tap. I hope your son had a great time. She said it was the best experience in college so far.
@memmsmom. He got tapped by one of his favorites so he is very happy! I finally spoke to him late last night. I think he is glad the whole process is behind him so he can get into a more normal routine. All those meals, walks, etc was hectic! But the whole thing is very exciting and I’m still sort of in shock that he has this amazing opportunity! Can’t wait to hear them on Parents weekend.
Congratulations!! I know my daughter is looking for some kind of normal as well. Although she ended up eating her dinner with her new sisters anyhow because she liked having guaranteed friends to sit with
