anyone auditioning for a cappella groups?

hey, is anyone else planning on auditioning for an a cappella group? when i visited stanford (this was the week before AW) i went to a harmonics rehearsal, and they were awesome! i'm definitely auditioning for the harmonics and mixed company. i was just wondering how many CCers are planning on doing the same.

hmm... i'm having trouble selecting an audition song. if anyone's willing to help me out, pleeease reply here/ PM me :) thanks!

oh, and here's something that came up in one of my AIM convos with stany (stanmaster22). do you think fleet street or any of the other all-male a cappella groups are allowed to prevent a female student from auditioning? it would be quite funny if a bunch of us girls decided to audition for fleet street together and then caused a big ruckus if they tried to kick us out. anyone with me? :D

Dreamsicle! You should definitely audition for one. The a cappella groups were one of the best parts of the admit weekend, and I'm sure you will enjoy them!

Oh yeah it'd be funny to see what fleet street would do if females decided to audition for it. I'm not sure how they would respond. Maybe they'll make you play Snoop Dogg!

im auditioning too. I think they would let you audition.. I know Yale a capella groups do let girls audition for all-male groups and vice versa

paulhomework- haha, thanks for the encouragement. hmmm i'm not too familiar with snoop dogg, but i suppose i should go and do some research. :P

yesh- which groups are you auditioning for? do you know yet? let me know when you decide.

I'm pretty sure Fleet Street does let females audition, although they will warn you that you won't get in, or some such. Your time slots are private, so they can ask you to leave after 30 seconds... it wouldn't exactly be a ruckus. They almost let a girl in one year. Apparently she was freakin hilarious and talented. My friend was the Fleet Street director... but they ended up not letting her in.

wow..itll be pretty cool with a girl in fleet street. nope dreamsicle, i havent decided. u?

I'm definitely interested in auditioning for Talisman and Everyday People.
Talisman completely blew me away at AW, and Everyday People have a really smooth R&B sound and I'm loving that, too. *crosses fingers! :D

Hope to meet you all soon!

Will we receive more information about auditioning during orientation?

Also a couple more questions... when are auditions normally held, and how does one prepare for it?

i actually haven't heard any other groups sing live, other than the harmonics. i guess i'll just have to wait til the a cappella concert during orientation.

i think auditions are some time during the first week of classes. for tips on auditioning, check this article out: http://www.stanfordalumni.org/news/magazine/2005/janfeb/red/wydka.html

hope that helps. :)
