A couple of questions about college and college admissions please help!

Hi everyone! I'm a new member here and would just like to get some much-needed help (and hopefully offer some along the way). I have a few questions and although you don't have to answer all, I would be extremely grateful if you were to answer at least one. So let me just start by saying that I am a rising senior in Long Island, NY. My top two choices for colleges are Harvard and Yale, but I've also researched schools such as Dartmouth, UPenn, and Columbia (a little bit of Brown, but I'm not too sure about applying). Here are some of my statistics:

SAT I's : 2080, 1350 (excluding the writing section) (took it once and planning on taking it a second time)

SAT II's : English Lit: 670, Biology M: 740, Math IC: 670 (planning to take a couple more)

AP Exams: English Language: 5, and the other three I took in my junior year were fours. AP European (tenth grade) was a 3. (making a total of five and planning to take more my senior year)

GPA: a 4.0

Extracurriculars:

President of Italian Club (three year member, president for one, treasurer for one)
Officer of Chapter Activities for DECA (four year member, officer for one)
Science Club P.R. officer (two year member, officer for two)
S.A.D.D. Vice President (two year member, VP for one)
Mock Trial Team Vice President/Attorney (three year member, VP for one)
Editor in Chief of school newspaper (three year member)
National Honors Society (two year member)
Golf Varsity Team (three year member)
Drama production (one year member)
Science and Tech. Enrichment Program (STEP) (two year participant)

Awards/Recognitions:

National Honor Roll
Who's Who Among HS Students
Award of Academic Excellence in Italian Language

Summer Activities/Employment:

DNA Research/Lab program at the Dolan Learning Center at Cold Spring Harbor
Golfworks Program (employed at a country club)
Harvard Secondary Program/Summer School (took college course for credit)
(also planning to have an internship for my senior year as well as another job)

---Ok I hope I got ya this far. I don't know what my chances are for those reach schools that I listed in the beginning. I just want to know my chances and what I'm working with here. Also...which undergraduate program is better: Harvard or Yale? I'm torn between the two and I'm planning on applying early action to one or the other. What should I know about them to better put things into perspective? In addition, some of my safeties include NYU and Boston University (although of course I understand that the college admissions process is unpredictable I know that people don't just apply without knowing what their chances are) PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Troll alert. If this is a serious post, do a search and read the stats of kids who get into H and Y.

He's got a chance. Anyone does.

Apply to wherever you want, as long as you've got some safeties and you won't be heartbroken.

bobby, why is he a troll?

on the other hand, reject for H and Y (you are a mediocre applicant without hooks)

Someone with a 1350 is not a mediocre applicant. You will find virtually no non URM, athlete, wealthy legacy or prodigy with such scores.

I suspect a troll when any quick read on CC would tell someone whether they had a hope at HY.

And Clen, everyone has a shot at the lottery. So what if it's one in 10 million.

I only said he had a shot cuz i felt bad about YOUR response to him being a "troll."

Joeyj07k: these chances things are pretty sad because they make people like you not want to apply to the colleges they want to apply to. Don't listen to what other people say and apply where you want (with safeties, like I said).

Clen, has Harvard hired you to make sure they will continue to get to reject 10 out of every 11?

I like the EC's in general, but I have trouble seeing what your passion is here. Like, which ONE (okay, maybe two?) ECs were you actually truly I'll-stay-up-48-hours-to-fundraise dedicated to?

Raise your test scores if you're an Ivy hopeful. And... please, please don't put "Who's Who" on your resume. Please.

omg guys. did u read MallomarCookie's post? GPA is the most important thing. and harvard is looking for perfectionists more than test whores. you have good, solid ECs so i'd say u have a legit shot. only just get ur SAT up to 2150+ (at least...) and SAT II's up above 700s. right now, ur chances at harvard: 25 percent u will get in, 75% not.

I'm not a troll and I don't even know what that is. I'm a new member remember? If u don't believe me still well w/e I can't change your mind. I'm just a guy who really could use the help. And i've already done the stats check, but its not like they're going to say how many extracurriculars they expect and things like that. pce.

What's your rank? If you are valedictorian or something like that, you have a legit shot at Harvard.

I think I saw a thread on this already, but reading this thread I need to bring it up again. How do you know who to trust on here when taking advice?????? I see one person saying "you have a chance, I'm lying you don't at all", one who thinks he has a slim chance, and another who gives him a 1 in 4 chance of getting into Harvard. It makes no sense, people should have to post their experience or at least why you should believe them, and people who have no clue shouldn't post any advice at all. Especially if, like I suspect of cooldude1989, they themselves are only applying to college now (I was born in 89 too and I'm doing that now).

Quote: '25 percent u will get in, 75% not.'

... that's not true. Half the perfect 4.0's AND TOP SAT scores don't get in.
