A few questions about an appeal.

So i'm trying to get some more money from NYU and I'm wondering how i should go about it.

-Email, physical letter, or phone call?
-What types of info should i include in the appeal, and how should i explain my need? like what should i tell them ?
-Should i mention scholarship offers received from other schools?
-Should i mention things like how my sis is about to start grad school and my (single) dad is scheduled to retire this year, so money is tight?
-They're my first choice, so should i talk about how they're my dream school and if i get any more aid, ill pledge to attend?

There is advice about this on your OTHER thread as well. Retread that one.

If it were me, and it was convenient, I would go I person. If not, do a phone call AND email.

You need to provide NYU with any ADDITIONAL information that they do NOT already have.

Yes, you should mention that you have received a scholarship from another college, and be prepared to give them a copy of that award.

Thy are NOT going to care about your sister in grad school, or your dad retiring NEXT year. Neither of those things are relevant things for THIS coming year financial aid award. If your family is helping your sister with grad school, that is their CHOICE. Your dad has NOT retired yet. Financial aid is based on income and assets, not on the year onePLANS to retire.

You can mention that they are your top choice, but I would NOT use the “dream school” language. Just don’t.

And lastly, don’t be disappointed if they say NO. Make sure you have a plan B.
