Bonjour, I [junior] have a few questions about McGill:

I'm interested in studying engineering or possibly mathematics. What kind of experiences do people in these departments have?

I'm an American but may be interested in staying in Canada after graduation. How are McGill's career services? Specifically, do engineering students have a good shot at finding jobs in Canada right out of school?

I know that major scholarships factor in ECs and rec letters; is there any info on what they are looking for?

It’s actually a tad warmer here during the winter, but I like the cold :). Besides, I’ve spent enough time in Fairbanks to find anything above 0 C palatable.

Not too familiar with engineering, but I know the math and stats department. Job-wise, a degree in math does not prepare you for anything specifically, but the skills are in demand in various places. The math major offer lots of options (depending on which area you want to study), but if you’re inclined you can do an honours instead, though the honours programs are geared toward grad school. McGill’s math department is pretty solid in most fields of math except maybe in applied math (that changed for a bit in the early 2000’s but it didn’t last).

Good stuff. The engineering, math, and chemistry departments at McGill all sound good, and I like the school’s other attributes. I guess we’ll just see if they feel like giving me money :)

I do have another question: if you’re American, how did you deal with the exchange rate? Did you onvert a bunch of money when it’s good, pay each individual tuition check at the going rate, hedge with an ETF, or what?
