A Fun Little Calculus Activity

Hi,

I'm writing a paper for my English class and its supposed to explain a concept. I wanted to explain Calculus (because I thought then I could multi-task and study for Math while I'm also doing my English homework) but she said the subject was too broad for this paper.

I've decided to do related rates as my concept but am kinda confused now and was hoping some of you guys could help if you have time. I just need a couple ideas on how to set up my paper. I was thinking of starting with an intro. about somebody who places their icecream on the table and comes back. Then, I could show how they use related rates to calculuate the amount of ice cream that melted/dripped onto the floor. I've seen problems with water dripping and using related rates to figure stuff out but I'm not sure how to adapt it to this problem.

Would I be able to apply the concept of related rates to solve this problem if I say that the main character knows that they got a 6 inch tall cone with a 1 inch radius, and that it drips at 2cm^3/min? Is that too much information? Too little information? Please help:)

Thanks!
